What is the best way to test the stall warning horn?

Answer:

Many pilots are taught to gently suck on the stall warning opening in the leading edge of the right/starboard wing while the power is on and you are checking lights. This works, but can sometimes give you a bit of a surpise in the form of dead bugs or TKS fluid. Many pilot shops sell a small, portable suction device to test stall warning horns, but if you don't want to add yet another item to your flight bag, we recommend you carry a clean handkerchief in your pocket to put over the stall warning opening before you suck on it.
