Good observation! In the Missed Approach segment, I did indeed sync the vertical speed bug to my climb rate. As you know, when you press one of the buttons on the right side of the PFD, it changes the function of the right knob. You usually turn the knob to set a new value, but you can also press the knob to sync the value or set a default value. When the VSI Bug is selected, pressing the right knob will sync the VSI Bug to your current climb rate.
In the Missed Approach segment as part of the “Confirm It” step, after setting the Alt Bug to the missed approach altitude, you saw me press the VSI Bug button to select it, press the right knob to sync the VSI Bug (though pressing the knob was slightly off screen), and finish by pressing the Hdg Bug button. I always reselect the Hdg Bug right after changing any other bugs so I always know what the right knob will do when I grab it.
Pressing the knobs is an often forgotten but very useful feature of the PFD. Check out the Avidyne EX5000 Pilot Guide to see what other knob presses are available. Another one of my favorites is pressing the left knob to center the course needle. Did you know you can center the needle when in OBS mode on the GPS? You can! Check it out. But it only works in OBS mode, which is why most pilots don’t know you can press the left knob.
