Andi Herbst was born in Germany in 1956. At age 16, he had a dream to become a Jumbo-Airline Captain. And true to his word, he started his pilot career in 1978 with the flag carrier of Germany.
In 1980 he finished his training in the Beech Bonanza F33A and went on to the Beech Baron E55 for MEL and IFR Training. He went on to fly for his carrier as a first officer on the Boeing 727, then the Airbus A310, A300, DC-10, A340, making Captain on the Boeing 737 in 1994. He also continued instructing in general avation.
In 2003 he became a Captain on the Boeing 747-400 and in 2008 a Training Captain on the fleet. Today he trains pilots both in the simulator and on the line on the 747-400 and the new 747-8.
In his years of flying he has accumulated 20,000 hours. He enjoys his trips around the world and flies a Cirrus SR22 anytime he gets to Los Angeles.
