Missed Approach Procedure

Question (Long):
I have a question regarding the Missed Approach segment of this course. In the preparation for the missed approach, MossY shows the approach plate in which the procedure calls for a climbing right turn to the missed approach holding fix. Yet, when he flies the missed approach, he indicates that the procedure calls for a LEFT turn to the holding fix. I was wondering about this discrepancy.

Good catch! We were wondering how long it would take some eagle-eyed instrument pilot to notice this discrepancy. The simple answer is that during the time between when we shot the video footage and created the graphics, the FAA changed the missed approach procedure. Since we always keep our charts up-to-date, we were unable to locate an older chart to match the video footage. We thought it would be interesting to keep the discrepancy as an easter egg for pilots like you to discover. Well done. If anything, this is a great example of why you should always keep your charts up-to-date, and always brief an approach, even if you are flying a procedure you've flown a million times before. You just never known when the procedure will be modified.
