Question (Long):
It seems like every time I land a Cirrus, I float halfway down the runway. I feel I have good airspeed control. I always hold a solid 85 KIAS on final. How can I keep from floating down the runway?

Answer:
Great question, Julian. If you sit at your favorite airport restaurant and watch airplanes land, you will see Cirrus after Cirrus floating down the runway. The problem is speed. They are flying their approaches too fast. Try 82 KIAS as your baseline when you are at or near Maximum Gross Weight. Decrease that speed by 1 knot per 100 lbs so that you are lighter than MGW. You will find after slowing it down just a little bit that the Cirrus will land like a dream.
